Pattern for Free Magic Goody Bag

Download, or Print out the above Pattern. Use your scanner to increase the size to fit a full sized (8 1/2" x 11") sheet of paper. The pattern should be about 7 3/4" wide by 9 5/8" high. If you do not have a scanner to adjust the size, take it to your closest copy shop, such as Kinko's, Office Depot or Staples. If the download stops in the middle of the first page and starts again on the second page cut off the top of the second page and glue the two pages together. where they match. Print on heavy weight, bright colored paper. You will require two sheets for each bag you wish to make.

Step 1. Cut out the pattern along the heavy lines.

Step 2. Crease along Fold Lines #1, #2, #3 and #4. Start by using a hard, sharp, corner such as a the edge of a table. Fold creases into sharp folds then open them. Do not fold #5 as this time.

Step 3. Lay out two patterns in front of you, left and right. Apply glue to Tab C on the Left Sheet pattern. See Figure #1. You may use a Glue Stick, Rubber Cement or any fast drying glue. Take the left edge of the Right Sheet pattern and carefully place it on top of the glue on Tab C. The left edge of the Right Sheet should be aligned on the Fold #2 dotted line on the Left Sheet.

Step 4. The two sheets should look like those in Figure #2 after you have glued them together. Note that Tab C of the Left Sheet is no longer visible.

Step 5. Fold the Wizard panel of the Left Sheet completely under the the page along Fold #1 of the Left Sheet.

Step 6. Fold the Lightning Panel of the Right Sheet completely under the page along Fold #1 of the Right Sheet.

Step 7. The packet will appear as it does in Fig. #3. Turn the packet completely over. You will find that Tab C of the Right Sheet is aligned under the left edge of the Left Sheet. Apply glue to Tab C and press the left edge of the Left Sheet in place. Be careful not to get glue on inside of the packet. You have now made the four vertical walls of the Bag.

Step 8. Fold both of the tabs marked B all the way up inside packet

Step 9. On either side of the packet press Fold #5 inward. At the same time align Fold #1 and #2 together as if they were a single edge. Pinch the edges together and slide your fingers down the length of the bag. Repeat this on the opposite side. This will create Fold #5 which makes an accordion type pleat, or gusset, down each side of the bag.

Step 10. Apply glue to the backside of either of the Tabs C. Press the two tabs together.

Step 11. Apply some glue inside the bag to the spot where the Tabs B will touch the bottom of the bag when they are folded down. This completes the bottom of the bag.

Step 12. If you intend to place heavy items in the bag you may require a cardboard insert. Cut a piece of Cardboard 2" x 4" and glue it in place at the bottom of the bag.
